Sports Physicals

Sports Physicals

The Good Clinic offers sports and camp physicals to youth ages 12 and older. Also called the pre-participation physical evaluation (PPE), this evaluation is required every three years in the state of Minnesota for student competing in interscholastic sports or attending summer camps. Schools and organizations may require them on an annual basis, so be sure to check with your coach or activities director.

Please note: Pre-participation physicals do not replace an annual wellness exam, which typically includes providing all the required vaccinations and other well-child exam components.

Frequently asked questions

  • Why are sports and camp physicals important?
    • The purpose of the PPE is to assess whether there are any medical reasons a student cannot compete in their chosen sport or activity.
  • How long does a Good Clinic sports and camp physical take?
    • Most of our sports and camp physicals take about 20 – 30 minutes. At the end of your child’s visit, your provider will complete any medical forms required and will review the results with you and your child.
